Let's start the new year off right - with a No Sugar challenge! One of the best things you can do for your health is to cut back on foods with added sugar. And while you might think you're not eating that much sugar, chances are you're eating a lot more than you realize.
Which is why I am launching a 10-Day No Sugar challenge to promote awareness around the dangers of excess sugar and how to properly manage your sugar cravings and get to the root of their causes!
As part of the challenge, you need to cut out all processed products as well as products with refined sugar. This challenge is made up of two levels:
Level 1: Cut out the processed sugars
All the artificial and refined sugars including: white sugar, brown sugar, high fructose corn syrup. Sugar has many names, if you suspect something is refined look it up or message me for some help!
You can opt for honey, maple, coconut sugar/syrup, date sugar/syrup, molasses etc...
Level 2: Cut out the natural sweeteners
Sugar is still sugar and its impact on our blood sugar will still be evident, so if you feel like a little challenge, avoid natural sweeteners like: honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar/syrup, date sugar and others.
Instead opt for foods like:
- Sweet veggies: sweet potatoes, pumpkin, squash, beetroot, carrots...
- Coconut: milk, flakes, butter
- Fresh fruits: two servings a day, preferably not the same fruit, choose the ones that suit you, possibly the ones that don't spike your blood sugar too much, maybe even go for seasonal ones! They will give you that sweet feeling + added benefit
Choose the challenge level that suits you and go at your own pace!
