Healthy Tips For Ramadan

We know that keeping a healthy and balanced lifestyle can be a challenge during Ramadan. However, fasting can be a great way to take a step back and focus on the present and what your body really needs. To help keep you on the right track, here are some tips and helpful recipes to keep in mind as you gear up for this month of reflection and self-care.

1. Hydrate: Always drink 2 Glasses of Water before going to bed

    2. Set an Intention and Write What you Are Grateful For: I usually do this in my journal as way to reflect on the day before and prepare for the day ahead. Focusing on an intention (I usually focus on the words patience and perseverance), and reminding myself of all that I’m grateful for keeps me grounded and focused throughout the day.

    3. Nutrient Dense Meals for Suhoor: For Those who wake-up for Suhoor, make sure to balance of protein, healthy fats and carbs to keep you feeling satiated throughout the day. Here are some recipes to get you on the right track.

    4. Light Exercise: You might feel exhausted, but going for a light walk before Iftar can increase your energy. Even if it’s just around the block, a light yoga class or a short at home workout it will keep you healthy and balanced each day.

    5. Hydrate Again: Break your fast by drinking a full glass of water at room temperature. To rev up your metabolism and give your stomach a chance to warm up, consider adding apple cider vinegar and a slice of lemon to your water.

    6. Keep Your Iftar Meals Mostly Plant-Based: To avoid overindulging Here are some great healthy recipes for Iftar to keep in mind.

      7. Exfoliate: Ramadan is a time to cleanse and renew, from the inside out. Gently shedding away dead skin and increasing circulation of the blood by using a dry brush or loofah will help keep your skin revitalized and refreshed.
