What causes bloating?

Before teaching you how to get rid of bloating, you need to know why and how it happens in the first place. Bloating occurs in the abdominal area when large amounts of air or gas build up in the gastrointestinal tract.

When you are bloated, you feel as if you’ve eaten a big meal and there is no room in your stomach. Your stomach feels full and tight. It can be uncomfortable or painful. Your stomach may actually look bigger. It can make your clothes fit tighter.

Eating is a common cause of bloating. When you digest food, your body produces gas. When eating or drinking, you ingest air that goes straight to your gastrointestinal tract. Usually, burping helps relieve the buildups of gas and air in the gut.

  • Try anti-bloating drinks.

They exist! You’ll be surprised that you’ve been drinking them for so long without knowing about their magical anti-bloating properties. Herbal tea with anise, fennel, mint, and ginger will help relieve the built-up gas.

  • Try some gas relief capsules.

Simethicone pills and liquid are anti-gas medications that can help to move excess air out of the digestive tract. It is essential to always take medication according to the instructions on the label.

  • Drink green smoothies.

Starting your day with a morning juice with bitter greens like kale, spinach, or parsley cleanses and detoxes your stomach. You can add some ginger, celery, apple, pineapple, and lemon juice for better taste and benefits.

  • Replace sodas with water.

Fizzy, carbonated drinks contain gas that can build up in the stomach. The carbon dioxide that makes soda and similar beverages fizzy can also cause bubbling and bloating in the stomach.

Sugars or artificial sweeteners in the diet can also cause gas and bloating. Drinking water eliminates these issues and helps to treat constipation as well.

  • Increase fiber in your diet.

Eating more fiber helps relieve constipation which in turn helps relieve bloating. Gradually increase your fiber intake by sticking to fruits like berries, bananas, pineapples, and kiwi at first.

  • Do some yoga.

Certain yoga poses can position the muscles in the abdomen in a way that encourages the release of excess gas from the GI tract. This can reduce bloating.

Child’s Pose, Happy Baby Pose, and squats can all help people to relieve a buildup of gas quickly.

Don’t forget that bloating is temporary, so you can wear your favorite baggy shirt to feel comfortable and forget all about being bloated. If you keep thinking about it, you will feel worse and ruin your day.
