Chocolate Bark Christmas Recipe By Tania Koujou

 This is the recipe of Chocolate Bark which is really so fun to make!! Allow yourself to get creative in the toppings and create your own version of the chocolate you dream of!

You can make the chocolate bar very filling and give it a boost of nourishment with extra nuts, seeds and dried fruits.

I like Chocolate Bark because I usually like to pair any plain slice of chocolate with something crunchy while keeping it exciting, not bland. So this is not you regular kind of chocolate bar and has some Christmas feeling into it! Let’s get started!


To make a family chocolate bark that can fit 3 versions of toppings, you’ll need:

  • 200g dark chocolate of choice. I like to go for 80% which is the middle ground between 70 and 90, and complement very well the nuttiness and the sweetness of some toppings!
  • Fun toppings of choice: Almonds, granola, orange zest, chocolate cut into chunks, sea salt or pink salt, almond butter, peanut butter, raisins, cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, or goji berries


  • Cut the chocolate into squares and place them in a heatproof bowl. One way to melt the chocolate is through a double boiler by placing the pot with the chocolate in a larger deep pot filled with water. So you’ll have one small bowl immersed in a big bowl of hot water, together on low heat. Stir every few seconds. The second method is by microwave. Place the pot in the microwave and every time set the time for 30s, stop, stir the chocolate and heat for another 30s, and so on. Make sure not to burn the chocolate
  • On a tray, place one parchment paper
  • Pour the melted chocolate on the tray covered with the paper. With a spoon, spread it out to form a rectangle. The more you spread it out, the thinner the chocolate base will be. So, it is up to you to decide about the chocolate thickness
Now, create your own versions of toppings. You can create around 3 versions of the chocolate bark. Visualize the areas for each version. Each area will have its own kind of toppings. Make sure there is an empty space (with no toppings) between the different versions
  • Version 1: Heat 1 generous TBSP of almond butter with 1/2 tsp of coconut oil. While the mix is hot, pour it over one area of the melted chocolate. Make some swirls with a tooth pick then add some salt and cranberries
  • Version 2: Sprinkle some granola and then cut a chocolate bar into tiny chunks and sprinkle over the granola
  • Version 3: Sprinkle some toasted almonds cut into chunks, orange zest and raisins

Once done, place the tray in the freezer for 2 hours uncovered. With a sharp knife, cut each version of the chocolate bark into any piece size you fancy!
