L-DOPA

L-DOPA is used to increase dopamine concentrations in Parkinson’s disease and dopamine-responsive dystonia. Once L-DOPA enters the central nervous system, it is converted into dopamine by the enzyme aromatic l-amino acid decarboxylase, also known as DOPA decarboxylase.

Melatonin

Melatonin is a hormone primarily released by the pineal gland at night that has long been associated with control of the sleep–wake cycle. As a dietary supplement, it is often used for the short-term treatment of insomnia.
